mixxxx time!

My man Everything Continues just made this great Thieves mix that you all should hear. It's minimal, but with all of the over processed crap that's out there right now, it's definitely a good change of pace. But for real, every time I turn around there's a new mix of this song, some good, some not so good, some down right awful! EC definitely puts his own unique spin on things here and I'm diggin it.

uffie vs. princess superstar

I've never been that big of a fan of Uffie, which made me hesitant to listen to a track I found on superlaser that made the comparison between Princess Superstar and the infamous Uffie. However, I clicked on it anyway because of the curious person I am and might I say it was a pleasant surprise. The sound does remind me of Uffie, but unlike Uffie, Princess Superstar doesn't put her lyrics over the entire song or sing about spanking and fucking. I find it most enjoyable to listen to, and the bass is so hot that my external vibrates.

This ones also bass bumpin, especially about 2 minutes 30 seconds through.

And have you heard the new Yelle song? I don't know what anybody else's opinion of it is, but I'm kind of 50/50 on it. I think the song sounds great, but the lyrics are all in French which I don't know a lick of. So it's like I'm kind of torn between it because the lyrics are a substantial part to this song due to the fact that they continue throughout the whole song. But I've never been one to listen to a song just because of the lyrics anyway.

ultimate punchhhhh

I'm hoping that by now everyone has seen the hit movie Hot Rod because it is most excellent. I got the soundtrack the other day and said hey, Giorgio Moroder is on here! If you dont know who that is you should refer to this post from a while back. Here it is, listen to something cool.

ohhh yeah

Random myspace stumbling brought me to this group, Soda Pop Kid who has this great lo-fi disco song. That doesn't make any sense, really. Just listen to it, I'm terrible at analyzing music into genres. Anyway, I heard it, I started movin, and I was like, yeahhhhh.

Where is Jamiroquai and what is he doing now? Where has he been the last few years, and when will he tour the freaking US again. Seriously. Answer that.

late mix wednesday

Technically it's Thursday morning, but who cares? A few songs for you to enjoy, some you've heard, some you've haven't ( all zshare).

Disco Hospital-My Blood is all Drained
Found this on gomiheartelectric and I was like, yeah! Totally caught my attention. Seriously take a minute out for this one.

DJ Mehdi-Lucky Boy (Radar Remix)
Fantastic DJ Mehdi remix. At first I thought, oh, this is going to be like the 100 Chromeo "Needy Girl" remixes. But it's not. Radar dropped the tempo a little and made it less harsh. Not that Lucky Boy were ever harsh in the first place, but it's used for lack of better words.

Classixx-Cold Act III (Radio Edit)
[EDIT]By far one of my favorites at the moment. And I totally thought it was Uffie until someone recently noted that it's not. Seriously, I need to get better information from people beforer I post this stuff. Anyway, enjoy. It's a good one.

Romanthony-Colins Ave
Romanthony is a faint artist who is actually very well known if you do your homework: he sang for Daft Punk's "One More Time" and "Too Long". I love this because of the jazzy guitar that takes on the melody. The low vocals and steady but smooth beat are just another reason as to why I hope 2008 leads to more minimal, lo-fi electronic music.

predictions from the palms of blog-house.

So instead of creating the "best-of" 2007 list, I'm listing my predictions of what's to come for 2008. Granted I'm still a newborn in this blog-house [which, thanks to my readers, I now have a much clearer definition of] but I hope you read this list and take it for what my opinion is for 2008, and what I'd like music to evolve into. If you're big into the 2008 predictions you can check out 20 jazz funk greats who created a nice list with great explanations for their predictions.

Disco-House
It's something that's been around for almost 30 years and has the ability to keep reinventing itself. Italo-disco had a big breakthrough in 2007, particuarly with the emergence of Glass Candy. I also stumbled upon the wonderful blog solid goldberger which has great vinyl rips that you can stream and download. My prediciton for disco-house? Anything off of Radius Records, especially the Camaro’s Gang - Fuerza Major mix that starts of the list on their myspace.

Ed Banger Records
Ed Banger will continue to explode. There's really not much else to say here. I believe their family is getting bigger and bigger and there's no way to stop it.

Blog-House
It's become quite aparent to me that blog house is all around and I've fall victim to it. After multiple blog-rolls throughout the day [because I have nothing better to do with my time] I can always click on palms out and find everything that I had just been viewing on one simple sunday mix. It never ceases to amaze me. So then I asked myself the question of why I even bother looking anywhere else? I suppose it's the feeling you get when you find that ONE track on that ONE german/american/hip hop/graphic design blog of sorts and you can say to yourself, ahhhh I found this one before anybody else did. But really, you didn't, and I didn't. If it's on the internet there are a thousand people that know about it and have known for quite some time. But that's how music gets spread around from person to person. Those that take the time to do the research end up with the best results. My prediction for blog-house in 2008? It's going to get more nasty, funky, and poppin that it has ever been before. Blog-house has not yet reached it's zenith. I can see The Bloody Beetroots going many many places, hence the Italian tour with Justice that they just finished up. I've been seeing "Paparazzi pop up quite a bit recently. Seems as if he's already performed with just about EVERYONE [Boyz Noize, Diplo, DFA 1979 and A-Trak].

Graphic Design
In many ways it seems that your blog or myspace can make your music seem better if you've got a good graphic designer behind you. Hey, nothing like a little jump on the competition, right? All music genres have a certain style that seems to fall into place with the music. The best example I can give is Remixalone, who's graphic design style is quintessential of the culture that has risen in the past few years. [Just check out Steed Lord] Another popular designer is Atronig, who created the banner for fluokids.

Last but not least...
Kanye will dominate. 50 will retreat to a private island and will never be heard of again.
